Calls for further funding on World Mental Health Day

Today is World Mental Health Day, and Mental Health Ireland says more funding is needed for early intervention and primary care services.

The group is calling on the government to spend an additional 85 million euro on mental health services in Budget 2022.

The World Health Organisation recommends that 12 percent of a country’s health budget should be given to mental health – but Mental Health Ireland says only 7 percent is spent on mental health services here.
