Ulster not in favour of championship change

Offaly football manager John Maughan feels playing the All-Ireland Football Championship on a league basis is now the “only realistic option”.

Delegates will vote on two proposed structure changes from the fixtures review committee at this month’s Special Congress.

Maughan says the current system is “not working” and that there’s a strong support for change among players and managers.

But Ulster secretary Brian McAvoy is opposed to using a league format for the Championship:
