Water safety plea launched following increase in Jet Ski incidents

A Multi-Agency water safety plea has been launched following an increase in Jet Ski incidents.

A recent spate of Jet Ski infringements into swimming areas, has prompted five organisations to issue a joint appeal to jet ski users.

During the months of April & May the Coast Guard coordinated responses to 18 Jet Ski related incidents, 12 of which related to complaints they entered into swimming areas.

Roger Sweeney from Water Safety Ireland said jet ski users should ensure that they are compliant with local bye-laws, approved zones and speed limits.

He added responsible behaviour is essential.
