Non-essential cross border travel must be stopped – Swann

The North’s Health Minister has warned that non-essential cross border travel must stopped ‘by enforcement if required’.

Robin Swann has written to his southern counterpart, Minister Stephen Donnelly requesting a meeting to discuss the potential spread of Covid-19 from cross border travel.

It’s understood Minister Swan is concerned over the potential for cross-border interactions to fuel a fresh increase in community transmission and cases in respective jurisdictions.

He says both ‘jurisdictions are at different junctures, in terms of number of cases, the current trajectory of the epidemic, vaccination progress and Covid-19 restrictions.’
