Covid-19 cases surpass 10,000 in Donegal

Ireland has now recorded over a quarter of a million cases of Covid-19.

The number of cases of the virus in Donegal has now surpassed 10,000.

A total of 10,047 cases have been recorded in the county.

Yesterday 453 new infections were reported, with no further deaths from the virus confirmed.

Upwards of a tenth of those who’ve caught the virus — up to 30,000 here — suffer the lingering post-viral illness known as “Long Covid”.

Reported symptoms include breathlessness, fatigue, “brain fog”, anxiety, depression and in very rare cases, paranoia.

Public health expert Professor Anthony Staines of DCU says the question of how long their symptoms will last is still unknown to medical science:
