Over a quarter of a million cases of Covid-19 have now been detected in the Republic.
The milestone was reached this evening with the announcement by the Department of Health that 453 more people have contracted the virus.
No further deaths among patients have been reported, however.
There are 129 people being treated in hospital, with forty receiving intensive care .
The five-day moving average number of new infections is up again, and now stands at 489.
