Frustration as almost 120 Donegal people await home help

 

There are further calls on the Government to adequately resource home help support services in Donegal.
New figures show that there are almost 120 people in the county who have been approved for home support but remain on a waiting list for the service.
The Home Support Service costs approximately €165 a week per person compared to the weekly cost of a hospital bed of almost six thousand euro.
Donegal Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn says these people deserve to be cared for in the comfort of their own homes and the fact that the move would cost the state considerably less; he can’t understand why there isn’t more of a focus:
