Organisers of Electric Picnic are hopeful the festival can take place this summer.
The event usually attracts tens of thousands to Stradbally in Co Laois over the first weekend of September.
Organisers say they intend to hold the event in September ‘unless the Government tells them otherwise’.
The Irish Times reports that planning permission for the festival in 2020 has rolled over for this year.
