Areas in Donegal record falls in Covid rate but numbers still high

 

While there’s been a significant fall in the Covid rate in Letterkenny and Milford Local Electoral Area’s – both still remain above the national average as does Lifford/ Stranorlar.
A big drop has also been reported in the South Inishowen area and to a lesser extent in North Inishowen and while case rates across West and South Donegal have increased slightly they both remain under the national average.
There’s been a significant fall in the case rate in Letterkenny with 469 cases confirmed there according to figures up to January 18th. The incidence rate there remains above the national average of 1,334.6 at 1,574.3.
Similarly, in Milford, the infection rate continues to sit above the national average, at 1,670.2 with 230 confirmed cases.
There’s been an increase in the number of cases in Lifford/ Stranorlar to 393 with the incidence rate also increasing to 1,518.
The rate of infection in North and South Inishowen has fallen well below the national rate.
North Inishowen’s incidence rate is 1,055.3 with confirmed cases also decreasing to 179.
In South Inishowen, 200 cases have been confirmed in the 14 days to January 18th while the incidence rate has dropped to 894.2.
There’s been a slight increase in the rate of infection in Glenties to 1003.4 alongside 240 cases while in Donegal 322 cases have been recorded with the incidence rate 1,215.5
