Limited Dail sittings in January unacceptable – MacLochlainn

 

Donegal Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn has described proposals to limit Dail sittings to one day a week for January as totally unacceptable.
The proposal, by the Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghaíl, aimed at tackling rising infection rates, will come before the business committee today.
If approved, sittings would be held on a Wednesday in Dublin’s Convention Centre from next week for a maximum of 6 hours and would be limited to 45 members.
Deputy MacLochlainn who is Sinn Fein’s Chief Whip says while it’s critical decisions are made to protect public health in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, it must not come at a cost to the democratic process:
