Gardai issue warning over illegal fireworks


Gardai in Donegal have issued a warning over the use and possession of illegal fireworks, with a particular focus on the penalties that might be imposed where someone is found guilty of any offences relating to their possession and use.
The criminal penalties apply to igniting an illegal firework in any place were a fine of up to €10,000 and 5 years imprisonment could be imposed.
They also apply to throwing an ignited firework at a person or property or possession of illegal fireworks with intent to sell or supply.
A fine of up to €10,000 and 5 years imprisonment could also be imposed for such offences.
Gardai are urging the public not to risk your own safety, the safety of others and not to risk getting a criminal record this Halloween.
