Beef taskforce meeting gets underway today


The first meeting of the government's Beef Taskforce in three months will take place today.

It was set up last year after heated demonstrations over beef prices, which included blockades at meat plants and tractor protests.

Farming organisations, department officials and Meat Industry Ireland will meet by video conference today.

Agriculture Minister, Charlie McConalogue, says he's committed to setting up a Food Ombudsman to address price issues in the sector:
