Planning permission for north south electricity Interconnector granted

Planning permission has been granted in the North for a north south electricity interconnector.
The cross-border project will reduce costs to electricity consumers and improve the security of the power supply across the island of Ireland.
A 140 kilometre long overhead line will link counties Meath and Tyrone and, when completed, will increase the efficiency of the all-island Single Electricity Market.
