Over 100 people had PUP stopped for travelling abroad

 

The government is coming under fire after it emerged 104 people had their pandemic unemployment pay stopped for travelling abroad.
It followed checks carried out by the Department of Social Protection at airports.
The department said it carried out regular inspections on people in airports.
The Sunday Business Post reported that social welfare officers and gardai are checking the names of departing passengers to see if any of them are claiming welfare supports.
People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd Barrett accused the government of “shocking inconsistency and double standards” over the penalty.
