Two Irish Water workers in Donegal assaulted by public

 

Irish Water staff in Donegal experienced two assaults by members of the public in the last three years.
According to details released under the Freedom of Information Act, the two assaults happened in 2017.
One incident took place in March 2017 and involved one of the contractor’s traffic management operatives being assaulted by a member of the public.
The other assault happened in three months later in June of 2017 when a contractor operative was attacked by a stranger.
The two Donegal assaults are among 21 assault or abuse cases which were recorded by Irish Water staff since 2017, including 10 last year.
