9 new cases of Coronavirus confirmed in Ireland


There are nine new cases of coronavirus in the Republic of Ireland.
They are all related to contact with other confirmed cases or travel – with none related to community transmission.
It brings the total number of confirmed cases in the Republic to 43.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan says measures will be taken to step-up the containment phase.
He also extended his sympathy to the family of the first Irish patient to die from the virus:
