No progress on special lifejackets for Donegal fishermen

 
 

Serious concern has been raised over a lack of progress on accessing funding for special life jackets for fishermen in Donegal.
The life jackets are fitted with an emergency beacon, operating when somebody falls overboard by sending out a signal, alerting the coast guard to their location.
The technology has been described as lifesaving and it had been hoped that a motion brought forward over a year ago by the Cathaoirleach of the Inishowen MD would pave the way for the pilot project to proceed.
However, Cllr Martin McDermott says nothing has happened since, and that’s disappointing:
