PSNI investigate ‘hate crime’ at Derry bonfire

The PSNI are investigating the burning of Parachute Regiment flags and Soldier F banners on a bonfire in Derry’s Bogside last night as a hate crime.
The DUP had confirmed they had contacted police to report the theft of a Poppy wreath and other items which ended up on the bonfire, and they sought to have them removed.
Police say they will continue to gather evidence, and if a crime has been committed and suspects identified, then they will be brought before the courts.
