Council publishes draft plans for Muckish Railway Walk

Donegal County Council has announced plans to upgrade the existing Muckish Railway walk as part of Phase 1 of the proposed Burtonport to Letterkenny Greenway.
The plans are currently out for public consultation with the public urged to have their say.
As part of the first phase of the Burtonport to Letterkenny Greenway project Donegal County Council has put plans to extend the existing Muckish Railway Walk out to public consultation.
The local authority is proposing to upgrade approximately 7km of the route through the townlands of Carrownamaddy, Kildarragh, Ray, Moyra Glebe and Dunmore.
The proposed development incorporates site and vegetation clearance, the provision of a sealed surface with a 3×2 path, car parking facilities at Carrownamaddy, the provision of traffic calming and safety measures at road crossings, agricultural crossings, boundary fencing, walls and railings, culverts and drains.
The provision of ducting, way marking and directional signage will also be included as well as trail furniture such as seating and cycle stands along with landscaping and all ancillary development and associated accommodation works.
Plans are available to view at County House Lifford and Dungloe Public Services Centre.
The closing date for submissions is 4:30pm on Monday September 16th.
