Donegal fans urged to ‘Park Smart – Park Safe’

With thousands set to travel to Castlebar tomorrow as Donegal take on Mayo in the final Super 8 group game, fans are being urged to 'Park Smart - Park Safe'.

The joint initiative by Gardaí, the GAA and Donegal and Mayo County Councils aims to highlight the significant health and safety concerns created due to GAA fans parking on the hard shoulder of the N5 national primary route approaching Castlebar.

Donegal County Council’s Road Safety Officer Brian O’Donnell says with the large volume of traffic expected on the roads for the game, motorists are being asked to exercise extra care:

Gardai in Sligo say there will be an Agricultural Show just south of Grange from early on Saturday morning, and there may be some traffic delays in the vicinity.

They're urging motorists heading for Castlebar to expect some delays, and allow extra time for their journeys.
