Irish Rural Link sceptical of Garda Division restructuring plans

 

There’s further concern as to how proposed restructuring plans for Garda Divisions will affect community policing in Donegal and other rural areas.
It emerged this week that Donegal may no longer be a Garda Division in its own right, with speculation that the county may become part of a new North West Division, which would also include Sligo and Leitrim.
Irish Rural Link is warning that if these plans are to proceed then Community Policing will become even more important and will need to be adequately resourced.
Their Chief Executive Seamus Boland says Donegal alone is a vast area and he’s sceptical about how the proposals will work in the long run:
