Returning emigrants penalised under driving licence arrangements

 

A South Donegal Deputy believes returning emigrants are being unfairly penalised under the current driving licence arrangements.
Fianna Fáil spokesperson on Transport, Tourism, and Sport Deputy Marc Mac Sharry says the current system is discriminatory and makes no sense.
Irish people returning from the US cannot exchange their valid American driving licence for the Irish equivalent, they are forced to sit their driving test again.
Deputy MacSharry says this is particularly disturbing in the light of initiatives such as Donegal Connect:
