Local Elections Letterkenny: Brogan tops poll – SF representation to half

Fianna Fáil well on course for at least two seats in Letterkenny with one of the big stories being that Sinn Féin, barring a miracle, will lose one of its two seats.
Counting got underway at the Aura Leisure Centre at 9am.
Ciaran Brogan (FF) is on 1,522 first preferences is set to top the poll while Donal Coyle (FF) sits at 1,161 and is also expected to take a seat
Councillor Michael McBride was very happy with his 1,160 and will retain his seat as will Fine Gael’s Jimmy Kavanagh who, according to tallies, has 1,183 first preferences.
It’s less clear after that…
Kevin Bradley (Ind) seems well placed with 952 firs preferences with Manus Kelly (FF) very much in contention with 852.
Gerry McMonagle (SF)sits on 784 while Bernie Moran (FG) is not out of it with 721.  Adrian Glackin (SF) has 774.
With eliminations and transfers and how that might fall, it’s very likely that Sinn Fein will lose a seat with the party internally of the impression that will be Councillor Glackin.
