Donegal to get slice of harbour & slipway repair funding

 

Funding of almost €173,000 has been announced for works on six harbours and slipways across the county.
It comes as part of a national €2.2 million euro package announced by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Michael Creed, which will be shared across Donegal and 11 other local authorities.
The package provides funding for maintenance and repair works in addition to supporting the ongoing development and enhancement of harbours.
€30,000 has been announced for Darney Pier in Bruckless for works to the slipway, railings and safety signage as necessary.
The slipway at Curransport will also receive attention with the addition of improved lighting and navigation lighting for the ferry service. Funding of €45,000 has been allocated there.
€22,500 of the funding will provide navigation lighting to mark submerged rocks at Rutland and indicate safe access for vessels to Burtonport.
Inch Pier will benefit from €12,000 for surface repairs, signage and railings.
€18,000 has been allocated to Creevy pier for same.
and €45,000 of the cash injection will be used to improve berthing facilities at Leharden Newbridge.
The total investement in Co. Donegal is €172,500.
