Concern over huge cut in Donegal Island funding


A Donegal Deputy says the €359,000 announced by Government for Donegal islands falls far short of the almost €2.9 million applied for.
In this years tranche of funding under the islands programme there has been a 25% overall drop in funding for the county.
There has also been a 32% cut to funding for Arranmore Island with €20,000 being made available for resurfacing works to be carried out on the Lighthouse Road.
Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher says this is a mere fraction of the total money needed to bring the road up to an acceptable standard:
