Irish Water to hold information evening in Kerrykeel

Irish Water is holding an information evening at the Old School House Kerrykeel, on Monday from 5.30-7.30pm to present plans for the Kerrykeel Sewerage Scheme.
Irish Water is working in partnership with Donegal County Council to end the unacceptable practice of discharging untreated wastewater into the Burnside River, which flows into Mulroy Bay by developing a new wastewater treatment plant as part of the Kerrykeel Sewerage Scheme.
The public are invited to attend the information evening to meet the project team and learn more about Irish Water’s plans to progress this important project.
The practice of discharging untreated wastewater into the Burnside River is unsustainable.
The new wastewater treatment plant will bring benefits to Kerrykeel in terms of health, integrity of the environment and improved water quality for all.
Cleaner water will enhance Kerrykeel’s amenity value and act as a platform for social and economic development.
The new pipes, pumping station and wastewater treatment plant have all been sized to accommodate an increase in the local population and will facilitate future growth in the area.
The project will also ensure that the water quality standards set down by regulatory bodies will be achieved.
Anyone interested in receiving further information or in asking questions about this project are invited to attend the information evening.
