Nominations for role of Sinn Féin’s Deputy Leader open today

Nominations for the role of Sinn Féin’s Deputy Leader open this morning.
After Mary Lou McDonald was confirmed as the party’s president-elect over the weekend the focus will now turn to her second in command.
It’s thought the party wants someone from the north to run in a similar style to the long-standing partnership of Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness.
Sin Fein’s leader in the north, Michelle O’Neill, has already revealed she’s planning to put herself forward for deputy leader.
She and Donegal TD Pearse Doherty are already being touted as favourites ahead of nominations opening at 9am.
