Concern over lack of progress on upgrading major Donegal/Derry route


Concerns have been raised over the lack of progress on proposed plans to widen the A2 Buncrana Road.
The road is used on a daily basis as a gateway to Donegal with many commuters travelling the route crossing the Donegal/ Derry border at Bridgend.
The preferred route for the scheme was announced back in 2009 with plans to widen the road from Pennyburn roundabout to Skeoge Link roundabout to four lanes and a dual carriageway from Skeoge link roundabout to the border with Donegal.
Councillor Brian Terney says both Donegal and Derry City and Strabane District Council are aware of the importance of this route and it is up to the Department of Infrastruture to now bring plans to fruition:
