Mixed fortunes for LYIT sides on a busy day of action

It was a hectic day of action for the sports teams of the LYIT today.
The men’s gaelic footballers lost their Division 2 League semi final to the Garda College in Ballyhaunis Co.Mayo.
The tie was level with seven minutes to go but the Garda men scored 2-2 late on to take a 3-10 to 1-11 win.
Darragh Black scored the LYIT goal while Enda McCormick, Michael Langan and John Campbell chipped in with points.
The men’s soccer side won a thrilling Division 1 match in Letterkenny beating IT Tallaght 4-3.
They made good on their promise to avenge last week’s defeat to Tallaght in Dublin in the cup.
Goals from Coady Brogan, Ciaran Kelly, Odhran McMacken and Ryan Connolly was enough to secure the three 3 points.
A 7 strong Badminton squad travelled to DKIT where after winning the first game of the afternoon they were defeated narrowly 21-19 in the final game of the 3 losing to the home side.
There was also defeat for the ladies basketball team in Dublin.
They lost to Griffin College 95-76 at the Aer Lingus Sports Complex.
Makenzie Burud and Faith Welch top scored for the LYIT with 34 and 20 points.
