Concern over commercial importance of Rathmullan Pier not being recognised

The Rathmullan Harbour Area Development Group says the strategic and commercial importance of Rathmullan Pier is not being recognised.

At a meeting with Government Chief Whip and Donegal Deputy Joe Mc Hugh, the group said Rathmullan has the potential to be a 24 hour accessible deep water harbour able to handle large commercial vessels.

Given the uncertainties surrounding Brexit, the group says that potential must be further explored.

John Gallagher is one of the group's co-ordinators. He says a Harbour Master is being appointed to oversee five ports including Rathmullan, but what's really necessary is a dedicated Harbour Master in Rathmullan:
