Kieran Hughes a doubt for Scotstown Kilcar clash

Scotstown could be without Monaghan star Kieran Hughes for Sunday’s Ulster Club Championship quarter-final against Donegal champions Kilcar.
Hughes is ruled out of the starting line-up by a hand injury which requires surgery.
But he is likely to be on the bench for the Clones clash, and ready to answer the call if the Farney champions need a boost in the latter stages.
Hughes broke a thumb and damaged ligaments in the drawn county semi-final against Ballybay. He was unable to start the replay, and also started on the bench in the final against Magheracloone.
“He needs surgery on the hand and we know that. It’s too big a risk to start him,” said older brother Darren. “It’s looking like he’ll be available to play some part against Kilcar, but he hasn’t been able to start the last two games.”
Kieran Hughes will delay surgery until after Scotstown’s involvement in the Ulster series has ended.
