Fears Defence Forces not given resources to respond adequately to flooding


An Independent Senator says the Defence Forces are not being given the resources to respond adequately to flooding and the effects of high winds.
Earlier this week, Defence Minister Paul Keogh said the army was “ready, willing and able” to help local authorities deal with the effects of bad weather, with engineering capabilities in barracks in every county in the country.
However, Senator Gerard Craughwell says there is a need for a review of the Defence Forces, particularly in terms of how they are resourced.
He says they simply do not have the resources to do what they would want:
