Irish Rural Link questions regional policy in draft planning framework


Irish Rural Link has broadly welcomed the first draft of the new National Planning Framework Ireland 2040, but has expressed some reservations about how regions are divided.
The plan proposes Regional Spatial and Economic Strategies to ensure that regional parity can be achieved. However, Irish Rural Link says the three regions being suggested are too large.
They are the Eastern & Midland Region, including Dublin, the Northern & Western Region and the Southern Region.
Irish Rural Link CEO Seamus Boland says counties in the North-West have experienced less growth than western counties, and different strategies may be needed………..
