A security alert in Hillhead Castlefinn has ended with a small amount of ammunition being safely disposed of.
The area had been sealed off by Gardai yesterday after Council men made the discovery when excavating a manhole.
Army technical experts were then called to the scene last night to examine the items and make the area safe.
Local Councillor Gary Doherty says there was never any safety risk to residents in the area:
