Brendan Boyce finishes 4th in European 50k as Ireland take historic 20k Bronze.

Donegal’s Brendan Boyce finished in an impressive fourth place at the European Cup of Race Walking in Poderbrady, Czech Republic on Sunday.
The Milford man looked set for third in the 50k only to be passed by an Italian with around 5k to go.
Brendan was just one minute and 34 seconds behind the winner Ivan Banzerulk from the Ukraine.
Later in the day, the Irish men’s 20k team created history by winning team bronze for the first time.
Ireland took 3rd behind Spain and Germany who won gold and silver medallists respectively. The race was won by by Germany’s Christopher Limk in 1:19:28.
Alex Wright (Leevale) led the team home in 6th in 1:21:48 with Robert Heffernan (Togher) 13th in 1:22:40 and Cian McManamon (Westport) 26th in 1:24:03.
Donegal’s Patsy McGonagle was the Ireland Team Manager for the competition..
