Gaybo makes good progress

Broadcaster Gay Byrne has joked he is a “lousy patient” as he continues his treatment for prostate cancer.
Byrne informed shocked radio listeners last year he had been diagnosed with the illness. Yesterday, Byrne said doctors are happy with his progress.
“I’m a regular visitor to the Mater Hospital for treatment and everything seems to be going fine at the moment,” he said.
“They’re very happy with me, whether I am or not. I’m a lousy patient.
“I’m on about 18 tablets a day and they’re driving me mad.”
Byrne was speaking at the launch of Minding Frankie – the stage adaptation of Maeve Binchy’s novel. It opens at the Gaiety Theatre on June 6.
