Second male arrested following Strabane security alert

The PSNI have arrested a second male in connection with a security alert in Strabane earlier this week.
Police have claimed that an attempt was made to endanger the lives of police officers when a device exploded as police patrolled the area of Townsend Street on Tuesday last.
At approximately 8:30pm while police were on patrol in the Townsend Street area a roadside bomb was detonated.
A security alert continued in the area until Friday morning while investigations were carried out.
Chief Inspector Ivor Morton said the device was designed to kill or seriously injure officers.
A 20 year-old male was arrested on Friday morning in Newtownstewart in connection with the attack and taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite.
Extension was granted last evening for further questioning.
A second male has now been arrested. The 31 year-old was arrested yesterday.
