Derry Captain Ryan McBride

27 year old Derry City Captain Ryan McBride was found dead at his home on Sunday, just 24 hours after playing in his side's 4-0 win over Drogheda United.

McBride made his debut in 2011 and was appointed club captain four years later, earning an FAI Cup winner's medal along the way.

This year he had helped the club to the top of the league table with four wins from four and scoring twice.

In total he made over 100 appearances for the Candystripes.

The League of Ireland Players Union are among those paying tribute to McBride, saying they're shocked to hear of Ryan's passing and their thoughts are with his family.
