Academy Award winning actor/director Ben Affleck revealed that he is battling alcohol addiction last night, stating that he wants to "live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be."
The two-time Oscar winner posted on Facebook last night and stated that his treatment was the "first of many steps" towards recovery and specifically thanked "co-parent, Jen" (wife Jennifer Garner from whom he separated in 2015) amongst others.
"I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I've dealt with in the past and will continue to confront," he wrote.
"I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step."
Affleck previously sought help for alcohol addiction in 2001 with a stint in rehab.
In recent months, Affleck has faced some professional difficulties as his past two cinematic outings were panned by critics and he stepped down from directing the upcoming standalone 'Batman' film.
