Three major new housing schemes approved in Derry


Three major housing projects have been given the green light for Derry City.
Members of Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Planning Committee, have given their approval to full planning permission for the erection of 85 new dwellings at Tullyally.
The development consists of a mixture of two-storey detached and semi-detached dwellings and townhouses with associated landscaping, with open space and access road at lands at Tullyally Road, Drumahoe. The application will now be issued by the Planning Officers to the applicants.
Approval has also been given for full planning permission for the erection of 47 new residential units at lands at Ferndale Park in Lower Galliagh, Derry.
The residential units will comprise of 8 duplex apartments, 12 two-storey duplex units, 14 two- storey semis, six storey and a half semis and nine three-storey semis with associated landscaping, open space, parking and new road
Meanwhile the demolition of two large school buildings at the former Immaculate Conception Colleges has also been given the green light and the construction of 78 new dwellings in their place will then go ahead.
Members were informed at the meeting that these new houses will be accessed using the existing access off Trench Road with a new access off Corrody Road.
