Counting to get underway this morning in the NI Assembly election


Counting is due to get underway this morning in the Northern Ireland Assembly election this morning at 8 o’clock – the second poll in the space of 10 months.
It’s after the collapse of the power-sharing agreement in January over the so called ‘cash for ash’ scandal – and Martin McGuiness’s shock resignation as Deputy First Minister.
Chief electoral officer Virginia McVea says turnout appears to be higher than last time round:
