SOS say meeting with Minister Harris was “positive”

The group coordinating the campaign to retain three community hospitals in Donegal says it’s cautiously optimistic after meeting with Health Minister Simon Harris last evening.
The group says Minister Harris agreed with them that it would not sense to close facilities in Lifford, Ramelton and Stranorlar to facilitate the building of a new hospital in Letterkenny under a Public Private Partnership.
The Minister told the group he has asked the HSE for a plan to be presented to him and this should be available to him early in the New Year.
Save Our Services PRO Alan Mc Menamin says they also raised the HSE argument that the existing facilities are not HIQA compliant.
Mr Mc Menamin says it was a positive discussion, and Minister Harris was well briefed…………
