Boxing: Katie Taylor’s first ever fight referee tips her to beat pro boxers

The first referee to officiate in a formal fight by Ireland’s former Olympic champion Katie Taylor was a Donegal woman who has now tipped Katie to conquer professional boxing.
Sadie Duffy of the Illies Golden Gloves club in Buncrana is today in Sofia, Bulgaria, as a referee judge at an international boxing event.
Sadie spoke on Sunday Sport about Katie’s first bout in an interview with presenter Myles Gallagher.
She said the amateur fight, which Katie won in Dublin during October 2001, made history as the first sanctioned ladies’ contest and propelled women’s boxing into the limelight…
