Earlier start to 2017 Premier Division season

The FAI have taken steps to alleviate the problem of fixture congestion in the League of Ireland.
The 2017 season will begin at the earlier date of February 24th.
The mid-season break in June has been reduced by a week, while FAI Cup replays will only occur at the quarter final and semi final stages.
In a letter written to all clubs, FAI Director of Competitions Fran Gavin has also outlined plans to appoint a full-time Marketing Executive for the league.
