The overcrowding crisis at Letterkenny University Hospital has worsened considerably today, with 45 people awaiting beds at the hospital this morning, 26 of them on trolleys in the Emergency Department.
That's the joint highest figure in the country today along with Cork University Hospital.
The figures have been published by the INMO.
Local Cllr Patrick Mc Gowan says Community Hospitals can provide part of the answer, when instead, the facilities in Stranorlar, Lifford and Ramelton are being threatened with closure.
He says answers have been suggested locally, but they are not being adopted by the HSE:
Maura Hickey is the INMO's Industrial Relations Officer for the North West, she's been at the hospital today........
