Salmon Fishermen say they should be consulted on how stock is managed

Salmon fishermen are stepping up their campaign for a say in how stocks are managed following the latest round of quota cuts.

Donegal fisherman Liam Whyte says on the Owenea fishery, the shared quota between anglers and commercial fishermen has been cut by almost 40%, but stocks continue to decline.

He says fishermen and anglers know the waters and have a contribution to make to the discussion about how best to manage salmon stocks.

He says it's clear that simply cutting quotas is not working........
