Councillors says HSE has questions to answer on LUH overcrowding

letterkenny university hospitalThere’s been a marked improvement in the Emergency Department of Letterkenny University Hospital today compared with the situation yesterday morning.
Yesterday, management implemented the Full Capacity Protocol at the hospital after it merged there were 36 people awaiting beds at the hospital, 22 of them on Emergency Department trolleys.
Severe delays were reported in the Emergency Department, with people urged to stay away except in cases of real emergency.
That appears to have worked ; this morning, there were no patients awaiting admission on trolleys, and two waiting in the overflow areas of wards.
Cllr Gerry Mc Monagle is a member of the HSE West Regional Forum, and says he be asking questions about the Full Capacity Protocol at this month’s meeting
