NI Infrastructure Minister reaffirms A5 commitment

The North’s Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard met yesterday with senior local government officials in the North to reaffirm his commitment to deliver the A5 Western Transport Corridor, with plans to engage with the Irish Government to ensure that they are key partners in the development.
Minister Hazzard said the A5 will provide a high quality road link between Derry, Strabane, Omagh and Ballygawley and will unlock the potential for future economic development of these areas, including Counties Donegal and Monaghan.
The Minister said that the A5 will immediately create emplyoment of over 1,000 jobs within the construction industry, while the potential for future economic development in Donegal is evident.
Minister Hazzard added that the A5 scheme will underpin the economic and social development of the North West and that he wants to engage with the Irish Government to ensure that they are key partners in the delivery of this project.
