Figures from National Slow Down Day

National Slow Down Day began yesterday morning at 7am and finished this morning at 7am.
An Garda Siochana and Go Safe checked over 135,000 vehicles over the 24 hour period with 341 vehicles detected driving at excess speed.
In Donegal, a driver was recorded doing 129 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the N13 Treantaboy, Drumkeen and another driving at 62 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on the R245 at Ballyraine, Letterkenny.
A driver was recorded doing 139 km/h in a 100 km/h zone in Westport, the highest recorded throughout the day.
An Garda Siochana has said that they would like to thank the 134,000 drivers who did comply with the speed limit and encourage all drivers to driver safely and comply with speed limits.
