The Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council will officially launch a new innovative project, ASCENT on Thursday aimed to collectively address the environmental challenges facing northern European upland areas.
Mount Errigal has been chosen as the pilot site as one of 7 in northern Europe to benefit from the new project, which aims to address environmental challenges facing such upland areas.
The Slieve Donard in Co Down has also been chosen to benefit from the program.
Terence Slowey, Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council will officially launch this 3 year project on Thursday in Dunlewey Community Centre.
Unregulated access to upland sites and natural erosion has meant that some areas of natural beauty have experienced degradation, loss of unique bio-diversity and bio-resources.
The project develops management plans and implements innovative measures that will address future economic and environmental sustainability.
